Growing up the daughter of a multi-talented father who can list Olympic swimmer, stuntman, feature film star, crooner and jazz pianist on his CV and a model mother, it was an odds on bet that DJ Lora would follow the family tradition into showbusiness. Science and maths were never her strengths, instead she won the school trophy for ‘Biggest Contributor to the Arts’ and wrote plays and banged on the drums for fun.
She was bitten by the DJ bug in London after her passion for house and garage music led her to the professional scene. An ambition was born and she determinedly set about buying equipment, building an extensive music collection and learning the skills to become, in her words, ‘the perfect DJ’. The practice paid off as she was spotted at her first gig and whisked away to St Tropez to perform at an exclusive yacht party. Her professional reputation was sealed when she won the Movida Corona London DJ’ing Championship after competing as the only female in the competition.
To coin a cliché, the rest is history. DJ Lora is now an internationally renowned artist who plays commercial and house music and has performed in all corners of the globe, from London and Hong Kong to Spain and Brazil, Oslo to Miami and France to India. From clubs and parties to awards ceremonies and balls, she has rocked crowds of thousands. She does all this with her own unique style as she DJ’s to the masses wearing couture and ballgowns to fuse the two passions in her life: music and fashion.
Particular personal highlights include performing an MTV party in a cave in Lanzarote and playing at the World Music Conference in Miami. She's a favourite of Paul McCartney and Mickey Rourke who regularly see her play in London, where she holds residencies at three prestigious private members’ clubs, and she was personally requested to play Simon Le Bon's 50th birthday. She's played a private event for Prince William and Prince Harry and has supported stars including Eric Clapton, the Black Eyed Peas, Jamie Cullum and Razorlight at private events.
DJ Lora has recently been making waves on the Formula 1 scene after playing at several parties on the high profile racing championship calendar. For 2011 she is exclusively signed for F1 weekends to ‘Amber Lounge’, the elite pop-up club run by Sonia Irvine, the sister of former F1 driver Eddie Irvine. She played at the prestigious Monaco GP to celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Taio Cruz and Matthew Williamson and will be playing at the Singapore Grand Prix in September.
